What is it?
Regions are defined/divided in many sorts of ways. Regions can be identified on maps to define certain parts of the world or even to define parts of the human body.
There can be many kinds of features that define region. Language, culture, government, or religion can define a region, as can forests, wildlife, or climate. Different types of physical regions are deserts, mountains, grasslands, and rain forests. In a city or town, there may be commercial or business regions and then residential regions. Those aren’t just all. You can define a region in so many different ways.

It is regions that are defined in a formal way, often by government or other structures, are called formal regions. Cities, towns, states, and countries are all formal regions, as are things like mountain ranges. Functional region. It is regions that are made up of major cities/ central places and the area surrounding it/smaller towns or cities. The last one is vernacular which is a region that is defined by places that people believe exist as part of their culture.

ASEAN
Different members of ASEAN form different regions. All of the countries have different religions, culture, language and more. By looking at this map we can see that the countries are separated to different colours. All of the countries are different even if they are in the same organisation ASEAN.

- Promotion of ASEAN Awareness To make a significant contribution to the promotion of an awareness as well as a positive image of ASEAN among publics within the region as well as selected international publics.
- Financial Stability and Organisation Development To increase and enhance the capability of the ASEAN Foundation to plan, fund, implement, supervise and evaluate projects within its mandate.
- Enhancement of Cooperation in Addressing Issues of Poverty Reduction and other Socio-Economic Disparities.To help bring about a better life to people in the rural areas of the region and advance the war against poverty.
